Preparation, tagging, and review support for public filers, delivered by a CPA who has produced filings on the preparer side and built the tagging behind them.
Support runs across the periodic and current reporting cycle: annual reports on Form 10-K, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, current reports on Form 8-K, proxy statements, and registration statements. That includes drafting support, tie-out and support binder construction, disclosure checklists, and the review passes that catch inconsistency between the financial statements, the MD&A, and the footnotes before an auditor or reviewer does.
XBRL tagging is where filings quietly accumulate risk. Tagging decisions made once tend to persist for years, extensions get created where a standard element existed, and the structured data ends up telling a slightly different story than the human-readable document. Because the tagged data is what feeds analysis and screening tools, those discrepancies matter more than their obscurity suggests.
Work in this area covers:
A filing that is correct but produced through heroics is only correct once. The more durable work is designing the process around it: a defined calendar, a source of record for each number, an internal review workflow with real sign-off, and a document that assembles from linked data rather than copy and paste.
This is often where a platform earns its place. Workiva in particular is built for exactly this problem, and links data through a document so that a change in one place propagates everywhere it appears. Standing that up well is a different skill from operating it, and both are covered here.
Engagements range from a single quarter of overflow capacity through a full rebuild of the filing process, including tagging remediation across prior periods.
Related work often includes technical accounting positions and controls documentation, or fractional reporting leadership where the gap is a role rather than a project.
Describe the filing, the timeline, and the current state of the process. That is enough to scope it.
