Caviar Consulting / Services
CPA-led reporting work for public filers and private groups that answer to auditors, lenders, boards, and investors, where the numbers are examined closely and the calendar does not move.
Reporting problems rarely announce themselves as reporting problems. They show up as a close that keeps slipping, a review cycle where the same questions get asked every quarter, a consolidation that only one person can run, or an audit request list that takes three weeks to satisfy. Underneath is almost always the same thing: data that is assembled rather than governed, and a process that depends on individual knowledge rather than defined steps.
The work here is to define the data and where it comes from, assign ownership, design a process that repeats, and put controls around the parts that matter. Technology comes after that, which is why implementations that start with the platform so often disappoint.
Preparation and review support across the full filing set: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and registration statements, along with XBRL and Inline XBRL tagging, review, and validation. This is work delivered by someone who has produced filings rather than only advised on them.
Consolidation that reconciles cleanly and produces the same answer every period. Intercompany elimination, currency translation, minority interests, and the reconciliations that prove the consolidated result ties back to the underlying ledgers. Frequently paired with a rebuild of the close calendar so the consolidation is not the bottleneck.
Reporting packages that answer the questions the audience actually has, produced from the same governed data as the external numbers so the two do not diverge. Includes KPI definition, variance analysis structure, and the review workflow that gets a package approved without a scramble.
Reporting for funds and complex ownership structures, including capital account allocations, investor reporting packages, and the supporting schedules that investors and auditors request.
Close design, review workflow, and internal controls over financial reporting, including documentation and remediation where controls exist on paper but not in practice.
Caviar Consulting is not a licensed audit firm and does not provide attest services. Audit support here means readiness, documentation, and managing the auditor request process, not performing audit procedures.
Reporting work has historically required volume: data preparation, tie-outs, formatting, tagging, and documentation absorbed enormous amounts of time, and the conventional staffing model was built to absorb it. That constraint is falling away. When the mechanical middle of the work compresses, what remains is judgment, and judgment does not benefit from layers.
In practice that means the person who scopes your engagement delivers it, responses come in hours rather than days, and there is no learning curve billed against your deadline.
